Buffalo Chips Running Club Guest Participant Waiver and Code of Conduct

I acknowledge and agree that I am a guest participant in an activity hosted by the Buffalo Chips
Running Club. I acknowledge and agree that the activity will take place on public roads or trail or
other locations over which the Buffalo Chips have little or no control. I further acknowledge and
agree that participating in a running activity or event entails certain risks, and I do hereby waive
and release any and all rights and claims that I may have or that may accrue to me later against the
Buffalo Chips Running Club, the Road Runners Club of America, the City of Sacramento and all
agents, officials, sponsors, volunteers, and organizations affiliated with the event or their
respective officers, agents, representatives, successors for any and all injuries suffered by me while
traveling to and from and participating in this event. I certify that I am medically able to perform
all activities associated with the club and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I grant
permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recording or any other
record for any legitimate promotional purposes for the club.

In addition, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and/or other communicable diseases by participating in any activities associate with the club. I acknowledge that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and/or death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 in connection with my participation in any club activities, and personally assume this risk.

 

Club Code of Conduct

 

  • Show respect for fellow club members at all times;

  • Show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help the club and/or at events;

  • Never yell, taunt, or threaten physical violence towards other members of the club, a volunteer or event spectator. Members with a criminal history of violence or with a legal restraining order against them by another member may be barred from membership and participation in all club activities;

  • Never use abusive or vulgar language, or make racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs or derogatory comments at club-hosted events;

  • Never make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other members. Members found to be listed on a sex offender registry, convicted of a sex crime, or caught having, creating, or distributing child pornography will be immediately barred from membership and all participation in club activities;

  • Abide by race rules and engage in fair competition, which includes anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage that is considered cheating when participating in club races or other races where you may represent the club by wearing a club-branded singlet, shirt, uniform, etc.

  • Always report violations of the Member Code of Conduct policy to the Board in writing.
